About Me
Hey there! My name is Val, and I am a therapist based in New York City and owner of West Pardo Mental Health Counseling. Here’s a bit about me:
My therapeutic style is compassionate, authentic, and direct. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship above all else - creating trust and a sense of safety that allows my clients to be their most authentic selves. I serve as a companion in my clients’ journeys of self-exploration, empowering them, and helping them take a closer look at how relationships, past experiences, and cultural influences may be shaping their current challenges.
I am especially passionate about working with individuals navigating relational anxiety, perfectionism, and healing from family-of-origin trauma. As a first-generation immigrant, I also understand the complexities of balancing multiple cultural identities and enjoy supporting those who want to navigate this in a way that feels true to them. I am able to provide therapy in Spanish for those who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language.
In addition to working with individuals, I use my Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples manage conflict, deepen their friendship, and strengthen intimacy.
If you have any questions or would like to hear more about what working together would be like, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to explore whether we would be a good fit.
I look forward to hearing from you!
